Our once a year Agency Workshop brings teammates from Phoenix and Las Vegas together for two days full of collaboration, professional development, and the chance to let loose a little. Here’s a peek behind the scenes of Day 1 of our Workshop - our team building day - involving fast paced trivia, cookies on faces, and a round of drinks on Scott at the end of the day.

Creative 🤝 Strategy

The best work takes great creatives and great strategists. Luckily, we have both.

Pride (noun): confidence and self-respect as expressed by members of a group, typically one that has been socially marginalized, on the basis of their shared identity, culture, and experience.

“Pride is a celebration of the battles that have been fought and won, and a reminder to all in the community that there is support for the fights yet to come.” Associate Creative Director Joe W. said about this artwork that commemorates the Stonewall Uprising which took place in June of 1969. “Honoring Pride in the month of June pays tribute to those who stood up against oppression and brutality for the sake of all in the community.”

The school year is drawing to a close around the country, but the battle for students is just beginning with the emergence of school choice programs. Our newest blog shares what administrators and teachers need to know when it comes to how marketing can impact their schools in this changing educational landscape.

In recognition and honor of Memorial Day, this artwork by O.H. Designer Gabe H. features poppies and a postal stamp motif in recognition of poppies as a symbol of remembrance and the woman who spearheaded WWI remembrance advocacy.

The poppy as a symbol to honor those who gave all began in 1915 when Lieutenant Colonel John McCrae wrote the poem, “In Flanders Fields” after a World War I battle that resulted in the deaths of 87,000 Allied soldiers. He was deeply moved witnessing the barren meadows covered in red poppies after the battle. The tradition of wearing a red poppy for Memorial Day was started by professor and WWI volunteer Moina Michael, who read McCrae’s poem and wrote her own poem in response, “We Shall Keep the Faith,” and sold fabric poppies to raise funds to support veterans. Decades later, Moina was posthumously honored with a commemorative USPS stamp featuring her likeness and the words, “Founder of Memorial Poppy.”

This month our staff-led Community of Change committee hosted a panel highlighting the varied experiences of teammates with Asian and Pacific Islander heritage and the broader AAPI community, which is the fastest growing demographic in the United States.

As this demographic grows, it’s important for marketers and brands to appreciate and understand what AAPI individuals value as they make purchasing decisions - which is just one of many reasons why diversity of perspective makes our team stronger and better able to deliver innovative, insightful work to our clients.

@playatgila wanted to capitalize on the excitement and increased foot traffic during the NCAA Final Four weekend - without having to pay huge sponsorship fees or expensive traditional media placement. So we helped them pull off a Valley-wide guerrilla marketing activation in the form of (completely unauthorized) projection mapping.
